Election Data Forensics

To protect the vote count, we must collect the election results at several points in the counting process. For this reason, the Vote Count Protection Project includes Comprehensive Data Collection.

Following the guidelines of the National Election Archive Project, we will collect election results broken down simultaneously by precinct, by candidate and by ballot type.

We will collect these results at the precincts themselves at the close of polls, at the Boards of Election during the official tallying, and at the announcement of the certified election results. Combining this data with the exit poll results, we will have four separate snapshots of some of these results. If there is count corruption, we will be able to pinpoint where in the process it has occurred.

A pilot program of Comprehensive Data Collection will be up and running in November 2006; we hope to be in full swing by 2008, collecting the results of the 2008 Presidential election.
